The idea of a project about our teenage years came up a few months ago. We wanted to show a bit of what was going on inside our heads back then.
We were the last teenagers to grow up in a mostly analogue world, just before everything went digital. Roughly 2000 to 2005. Whenever we talked about that time, boredom and lost sensations kept resurfacing, so the series grew out of that.
A historical reconstruction wasn't the point, and neither was 2000s pop culture. What interested us was the gap between the tangible world we knew then and the connected one we live in now. So we looked at small things, the infra-ordinary.
Someone else might see a pile of retro objects. We see gestures our bodies used to know by heart.
The feeling we're after is nostalgia, the bittersweet kind, where you know something's gone. Sliding a phone cover open with your thumb, a CD that skips, the wait while a cassette rewinds, the warmth of a PlayStation, the grain of a VHS tape, sticky lip gloss.
We built a real set in the studio, based on our own memories.
In 2026, AI was obviously an option. Just not for this one. We'd rather make something with our hands that says something on time and technology, and honestly, have fun doing it.
It's also a way of asking what waiting was worth, and of paying tribute to a world where material limits pushed you to be more inventive. That's where we come from.
